Florida Insurance Commissioner Meets With President Barack Obama
Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty joins more than 30 state insurance commissioners in a meeting with President Barack Obama today to discuss the states’ role in implementing federal health care reform.
One of the most notable short-term impending implementation concerns is defining Medical Loss Ratios (MLR) by January, 2011. Florida held a public hearing in Orlando last May to gather information related to federal health care and the potential impact as it relates to MLR. Additionally, Florida partnered with other state regulators in crafting a resolution that supports the role of insurance agents, something regulators fear will not be included in the equation as a result of new MLR requirements.
