In 2005, the Legislature
passed a law requiring the
Office of Insurance
Regulation to hold a public
hearing concerning any
insurance company
residential rate filing that
would increase
policyholders’ premium by
more than 15%. The Office
holds most public hearings
at the Capitol in
Tallahassee and they are
televised by the Florida
