Florida OIR Sets Public Hearing For Auto-Owners Insurance Company

Tallahassee –The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has scheduled a public hearing to get input or solicit input from interested parties concerning a 20 percent average statewide rate increase request for dwelling fire insurance filed by Auto-Owners Insurance Company. Dwelling fire insurance is a property insurance policy that covers the dwelling, other structures, and sometimes contents against direct physical loss.
The hearing will be Thursday, Sept. 22, at The Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland Street, Clearwater, Florida 33755, with one session starting at 10:00 a.m. and another session starting at 6:00 p.m.
The requested rate increase was not uniform, with some areas subject to a higher rate than the statewide average. Florida law allows the Office of Insurance Regulation to hold a public hearing for any purpose within the scope of the Insurance Code deemed to be necessary.
