Public Hearings Set For Rate Filings From Foremost And United Property And Casualty
Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Office) has scheduled public hearings on rate filings submitted by Foremost Insurance Company, Foremost Property and Casualty Insurance Company, and United Property and Casualty Insurance Company (United). Hearings for these rate filings will be held in Tallahassee, in the Senate Office Building, room 401, at The Capitol. The hearings will be held on November 16, 2006.
Foremost Insurance Company has requested an average statewide rate increase of 38.5 percent for its mobile homeowners program and Foremost Property and Casualty Insurance Company has requested a 46.9 percent average statewide rate increase for its mobile homeowners line of business. The public hearing for these rate filings is scheduled for November 16, 2006, at 10:00 a.m.
United filed for a statewide average increase of 60.7 percent for its dwelling fire lines in Florida and 88.5 percent for its homeowners program. The public hearing for this rate filing will take place November 16, 2006, at 1:00 p.m.
The requested rates are not uniform and some areas in the state are subject to higher or lower rate changes. Florida law requires that the Office hold public hearings on rate filings requesting a statewide average increase of 15 percent or higher, or for any reason the Office deems necessary.
