Public Hearing Set For Liberty American Rate Filing
Tallahassee (February 12, 2007) - The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Office) has scheduled a public hearing on a rate filing submitted by Liberty American Insurance Company (Liberty American), Liberty American Select Insurance Company (Liberty American Select) and Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company (Philadelphia). The hearing for this rate filing will be held in Tallahassee, in the Senate Office Building, room 401, at The Capitol.
Liberty American, Liberty American Select and Philadelphia have requested an overall average statewide rate increase of 39.3 percent for its mobile homeowners business in Florida. The public hearing for this rate filing is scheduled for February 16, 2006, at 1:00 p.m.
The requested rates are not uniform and some areas in the state are subject to higher or lower rate changes. Florida law requires that the Office hold public hearings on rate filings requesting a statewide average increase of 15 percent or higher, or for any reason the Office deems necessary.
The hearing is open to the public, and input from interested parties is welcomed. The hearing will be taped by the Florida Channel and video will be available online along with agendas at www.floir.com
