Commissioner McCarty To Co-Host Hearing On Insurance Coverage Issues In Coastal Regions
TALLAHASSEE - Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty along with Alabama Insurance Commissioner Walter Bell will co-host a public hearing to address issues of affordability and availability of property insurance in high-hazard coastal areas of the Southeast.
The hearing will be held Monday, Sept. 24 at the Battlehouse Hotel in Mobile, Ala. It will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meeting is open to the public, but seating is limited.
"Availability and affordability are obviously very important topics to residents of the Southeast," said McCarty. "So, I am pleased to be able to co-host this event with my colleague Commissioner Bell. We are looking forward to a productive and enthusiastic sharing of thoughts and ideas."
McCarty and Bell will be joined by fellow insurance commissioners from the Southeastern zone of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Invitations also are being sent to state legislators, members of Congress, rating agencies, insurers and reinsurers.
