Office Orders Company to Cease and Desist the Unauthorized Sale of Cell Phone Service Warranties
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty issued an
Order to Global Warranty Group LLC (GWG) to cease and desist selling unauthorized service warranty products. GWG is an authorized limited liability company with main offices in New York that does not have a license to sell service warranty products in Florida.
The Office conducted an investigation and determined that GWG has sold more than 3,000 cell phone service warranty products without a license, through retailers in Florida and online. GWG has 21 days to respond to the Order.
Regulators encourage consumers to research companies before they buy. The Office has an online "
company search" tool that allows consumers to determine whether a company is authorized to sell insurance products in Florida.
