Public Hearing Set For Rate Filings From Southern Oak Insurance Company
Tallahassee (December 12, 2006) – The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Office) has scheduled a public hearing on rate filings submitted by Southern Oak Insurance Company. The hearing for these rate filings will be held in Tallahassee, in the Senate Office Building, room 401, at The Capitol.
Southern Oak Insurance Company has requested an average statewide rate increase of 30.2 percent for its homeowners program and a 25.5 percent average statewide rate increase for its dwelling fire line of business. The public hearing for these rate filings is scheduled for December 15, 2006, at 10:00 a.m.
The requested rates are not uniform and some areas in the state are subject to higher or lower rate changes. Florida law requires that the Office hold public hearings on rate filings requesting a statewide average increase of 15 percent or higher, or for any reason the Office deems necessary.
