Who:
National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI)
What:
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Office) will conduct a public rate hearing to discuss the annual National Council on Compensation Insurance’s (NCCI) proposed rate decrease for the workers’ compensation line of insurance. NCCI is a licensed rating organization authorized to make rate filings on behalf of approximately 250 workers’ compensation insurers doing business in Florida.
NCCI initially proposed a statewide average 2.5% decrease to Florida’s workers’ compensation rates and the Office released a statement about it on August 22, 2014. NCCI later amended the filing to further reduce the proposed statewide average decrease to 3.3%. This came as the result of an announcement by the Division of Workers’ Compensation regarding the adoption of a revised rule addressing the reimbursement manual for hospitals. For more information, read the NCCI releaseThe effective date for the decrease is January 1, 2015.
