TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –  Today, Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier was voted President-Elect of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), effective January 1, 2020. Commissioner Altmaier served as Vice President of the NAIC during 2019.

“As one of the largest, most complex insurance markets in the world, it is critical for Florida to have a seat at the table for state, national, and global regulatory discussions. I am glad that Commissioner Altmaier will play a leading role in these critical areas,” said Governor Ron DeSantis.

“As President-Elect, I have every confidence that Commissioner Altmaier will be an advocate for Florida’s consumers. This national role will help ensure Florida is top of mind when decisions are made. I look forward to continue working with him in this position of leadership,” said Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis.

“I congratulate Commissioner Altmaier on his selection to this prestigious position. The Commissioner will work diligently through this new role to protect Floridians and strengthen Florida’s insurance marketplace,” said
Attorney General Ashley Moody.

“I am pleased that Commissioner Altmaier is part of the team that will lead national discussions on emerging insurance issues. This will ensure Florida has a voice as these important discussions move forward,” said
Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried.

“I am honored to have been chosen as President-Elect of the NAIC. This year, we have made significant progress on many key issues. As President-Elect, I will continue the open dialogue to strengthen the consumer-focused framework that guides our mission as state insurance regulators,” said
