Florida Office Of Insurance Regulation Approves Humana's Newest Health Insurance Plan
Monday, April 7, 2003
Tallahassee – The market for individual and family health insurance has become more competitive, as the Office of Insurance Regulation approves a new addition to the list of companies offering health insurance in Florida.

Humana Health Insurance Company, of Florida, will offer an individual major medical plan, called HumanaOne, beginning in June. HumanaOne is a PPO plan designed for individuals and families not insured by their employer, including self-employed entrepreneurs, students, early retirees, those between jobs and others needing health insurance protection. The rates filed by Humana, and proposed for consumers, are competitive when compared to other companies in the Florida health insurance market.

In recent years, there has been an exodus of participants in the Florida health insurance field, leaving only a handful of companies presently operating. Thus, Humana's reentry into the market indicates the climate for health insurers, in Florida, is becoming more viable. Humana intends to offer HumanaOne statewide.

Office of Insurance Regulation Director Kevin McCarty welcomes Humana's new plan, saying, "We are working hard to reinvigorate the health insurance market, in Florida, and HumanaOne shows us that this effort is paying off."

Information on HumanaOne can be obtained on Humana's homepage at www.humana.com or by calling 1-800-257-3026.
