TALLAHASSEE (04/19/2007) - Commissioner Kevin McCarty today accepted the resignation of his Communications Director Bob Lotane following allegations of unauthorized use of a state-owned computer by an employee of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Office).
Dan Callahan, the Office's Inspector General, will investigate this incident to ensure that no additional political activity has occurred on the premises.  In addition, CFO Alex Sink has announced the Department of Financial Services acting Inspector General, Doug Darling, will also conduct an investigation.
"The Office welcomes the DFS investigation and will cooperate fully," announced Commissioner McCarty, "The Office has and continues to have the highest ethical standards.  It is unfortunate this isolated incident occurred, but we will work to ensure this does not happen again."
